Capturing your Vision in the Camera & Printmaking with Polynesian Tattoo Design
Visiting Artist Rebecca Gaal & Teaching Artist Tania Arens
Monday - Friday, 5 days
July 25 - 29 / 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
In this camp, students will learn how to create unique imagery using cameras and printmaking tools! In the morning, students will work with Visiting Artist Rebecca Gaal as they explore thinking outside the box and hands-on experiments. This class emphasizes the art of play, exploration, and making intentional happy accidents. Any level of photographer (even the complete beginner) will enjoy exploring the basics of photography including composition, natural light, and what makes a great photo. More advanced students are welcome to bring in their own projects. All cameras and skill levels are welcome! In the afternoon, students will work with Teaching Artist Tania Arens as they learn to carve their ideas into linoleum blocks and create a multicolored print using the Hui’s professional presses in the printmaking studio. Students will transfer images and learn all about registration, carving and printing! Tania will also guide students through an exploration of Polynesian tattoos—and encourage them to create their own tattoo design.
