March 2005
Dear Hui Members,
GOOD NEWS!
As you know, the Hui’s Board of Directors had until February 28th to commit to the purchase of Kaluanui as its permanent home. It was able to make that commitment based on the successful momentum of the, “Save the Hui – Buy Kaluanui” campaign. A letter has been sent to Maui Land & Pineapple Co. to that effect and a deposit has been made to an escrow account. Thank you one and all that helped make this possible!
MORE GOOD NEWS!!
The $500,000 challenge has been met more than two-to-one. As of March 1, with that commitment in hand, the Hui has received gifts and pledges in the amount of $3,677,000 toward its $5 million goal.
AND STILL MORE GOOD NEWS!!!
The Hui has received a second challenge grant in the amount of $250,000. Here’s the catch – the donor wants to see 100% participation by Hui members in the campaign. It is in your hands. Think of it. Those of you who have not yet made your gift or pledge can leverage a quarter of a million dollar gift. It is not the size of your gift that matters – it is that you give.
Below is a pledge card. Please join the other nearly 700 donors to the Kaluanui Fund. Our target date to meet this new challenge is the currently contracted closing date of May 1, 2005. Meeting this challenge will put us $250,000+++ closer to raising the remaining balance of our campaign goal. Remember – all donors to this campaign will be recognized as “The Kaluanui ‘Ohana” in perpetuity.
Mahalo nui loa to you all. We’re becoming known as “the little art center that could”, and with your help, we can!
Sincerely,
John W. Hoxie, Jr.
