Robin Ferrier Quiltlet #5: 9"x9": "Starting with cotton fabrics which I dye myself aided by the hot Hawaii sun, I use the technique of improvisational piecing to create these compositions. The richness of the color, contrast of shapes, and repetition of elements are important to me, as I aim to create a unique composition that hangs silently on the wall, yet conveys something interesting each time you look at it despite the small format. The quilting is done with ultra-fine thread which adds dimension and a hint of color, yet does not
interfere with the overall design. The quilt is finished with a "hidden" binding so the edges are clean when viewed from the front and sides. I've attached a sleeve on the back which has some "give" so the piece does not bow when hung.
Each quilt is colorfast, yet I do not recommend getting it wet as the cotton
batting inside may cause shrinkage. If wrinkled during shipping or storage,
simply iron from the back with a hot iron. Keep away from direct sunlight.
