Sold Out! Monotype and Pastel: A Perfect Pairing #1431

December 13 & 14 / 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Visiting Artist Dawn Emerson will merge the worlds of pastel and printmaking to teach techniques employed by master artists. Students will explore the “trace monotype” that Gauguin used to create wonderful line drawings as well the dark and light field approaches of monotype printmaking that Degas used as underpaintings for many of his pastels. Black soy-based ink will be used both days and color will be added with chalk pastel. Students will also learn other approaches to monotype. Participants of any level of art experience will find enjoyment and success in this class.

Mark making tools like pen nibs, bamboo pen, combs, etc. 
Pad of newsprint
Various textured surfaces like doilies, stencils, stamps, etc
Roll of 1" Masking tape
3", 4" or -5" Rubber Inking Brayer
