Barbara Elam is an independent artist currently working in mixed media, drawing, and printmaking. Barbara earned her MFA from East Texas State University and has participated in hundreds of national and international exhibitions. Her work can be found in museum and university collections, including the Fogg Museum at Harvard, the Milwaukee Museum of Art, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Barbara was awarded a Bunting Fellowship from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University in 1990. Afterward, Barbara became a Professor of Art at DePauw University and then retired from Rockford University as Professor Emeritus in 2005.
