Michael Javalde was born in the Philippines and at the age of six, he moved to Hawaii where he currently resides. He graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a BFA degree with a photography focus. Michael's photographic work primarily uses both color and black & white analogue photography and alternative photographic techniques. Much of his work draw inspirations from the complex and enigmatic human psyche and the human condition. He is also trained in the marks-making techniques of traditional printmaking, i.e. intaglio, relief, lithography as well as screen printing and digital media. Michael is the Hui's Exhibitions Coordinator and a Teaching Artist for youth and adult programs.
