Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center awards scholarships to students who are passionate about the arts and do not have the financial means to attend art classes. Students interested in receiving tuition assistance to attend classes at Hui No‘eau should complete the short scholarship form (link below) and specify which class they are interested in attending. Pre-registration is required, so the Hui advises students or parent/guardians to complete and submit the application at least 2 weeks before the class start date to help ensure space in class is available. For teens 16+ that are interested in taking adult art classes at the Hui, please visit huinoeau.com for a complete list of all classes available. The Hui also encourages teachers to provide the application to students or families who they feel would greatly benefit from a scholarship to attend a Hui class or camp. Class listings may be found under the classes tab at huinoeau.com or in the Hui’s Create catalog (please call 808-572-6560 to request a copy).
Explore & Discover: Field Trips at Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center
The Hui loves sharing the visual arts the Kaluanui Estate with school and community groups! Explore & Discover programs welcome students, their chaperones and teachers to the Hui to participate in fun and interactive art lessons taught by Hui Teaching Artists. Students are guided through a gallery exhibition, experience various art media and tools in the Hui’s professionally equipped public studios, view artist demonstrations, and create a work of art to bring home. Field Trips are typically two hours in duration plus any additional time for the group to explore, play or enjoy a picnic lunch on the grounds of the beautiful and expansive Kaluanui Estate. Program costs vary based on the medium of the project, number of students, and hours of instruction. We are happy to work within your budget and design a program that accompanies what your students are learning in school!
Explore & Discover Preschool Field Trips
Designed especially for preschool age children and funded by the Samuel N. & Mary Castle Foundation, this field trip program includes all of the wonderful elements of the Hui's Explore & Discover program(see above) while offering engaging art projects suited for our youngest artists. FREE for preschools!
“The Samuel N. and Mary Castle Foundation, one of America’s oldest family foundations, knows the value of art programs for our preschool-age children. Opportunities for early self-expression compliment high quality preschool social-emotional, physical and cognitive development in children and it also assists in our efforts to see all of Hawaii’s children ready for kindergarten. Hui No‘eau is doing a terrific job in this regard and is a valued partner of our Foundation in serving Hawaii’s children and families.”
-Alfred Castle, Executive Director of the Samuel N. & Mary Castle Foundation
