Exhibition Kitchen: The Art Show: Jurors Tom Klobe/Bev Gannon /guest juror
Exhibition Dates: May 8, 2010 - July 9, 2010
Hui No`eau Visual Arts Center is using a very familiar place as the impetus for this exhibition, that takes a playful swerve away from conventional working methods, encouraging unconventional pieces revolving around a theme well-known to all: the kitchen. Art pieces can be made OUT OF whole or parts of traditional kitchen items and implements or they can be made USING the kitchen items, thus the kitchen items can be medium or art tool or both. As a medium, the majority of the piece should be constructed out of the kitchen items or parts of items. Non-kitchen elements such as screws, wire, nails, staples, glue, tape paint, etc., may be used as long as the majority of the piece is made of the kitchen items. If the kitchen implement(s) is used as a tool, it should be the main tool or tools in creating the piece. Kitchen implement(s) may be used to paint, draw, print, sculpt, fire/bake, photograph, freeze etc. the art work or parts thereof. Again, non-kitchen elements (screwdrivers, hammers, nails, etc.) may be used as long as the kitchen implement(s) is the main tool(s) creating the piece. Check back soon for more updates.
