The Expanded Monoprint #1423 (Fri - Sun)

Visiting Artist Charles Cohan
Friday – Sunday, 3 days
November 4 – 6 / 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

This course will explore contemporary directions in monoprint and monotype printing—a painterly printmaking process in which no two prints are created exactly the same. Through the process of layering, students will develop their very own narrative documentary project. Visiting Artist Charles Cohan will walk students through a variety of methods including additive and reductive practices, stencil printing, and polyester and paper plate lithography. Participants will learn multiple layer inking techniques and participate in the production of sequential and variant editions. This workshop presents a unique opportunity for students to investigate a current issue of personal concern and to create a folio of informational and visual references on that theme. Upon registration, students will be presented with an assignment to help them get ready for class. This workshop is open to all levels; the complete beginner and the more advanced student will both enjoy this workshop!
