Driving Directions

From West Maui: Head east on Honoapi‘ilani Hwy. (30) toward Kahului. As you pass Ma‘alaea Harbor, turn right onto Kuihelani Hwy. (380). Turn right onto Hana Hwy.(36). Turn right onto Haleakala Hwy. (37). Turn left onto Makawao Avenue. Turn left onto Baldwin Avenue and continue 1 mile downhill. The Hui will be on your right.

From South Maui: Take Pi‘ilani Hwy. (31) West. Turn right onto Mokulele Hwy. (311). Follow to S. Pu‘unene St. & Dairy Rd intersection. Turn right onto Dairy Rd. (380). Turn right onto Hana Hwy.(36). Turn right onto Haleakala Hwy.(37). Turn left onto Makawao Avenue. Turn left onto Baldwin Avenue and continue 1 mile downhill. The Hui will be on your right.

We welcome you to discover Kaluanui on this walking tour featuring more than seventy specimens of plants and trees. About an hour in duration, this beautiful tour of the Kaluanui Estate celebrates Maui’s unique landscape and history. Along the way, you will see two of Maui’s largest Norfolk Island Pines, many endemic and indigenous plants, the remains of one of Maui’s earliest sugar mills, and a nearly 100-year-old historical home. Discover the rich history of Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center and the Kaluanui Estate in the Hui’s history room! Currently featuring an exhibition that celebrates Haleakala Ranch Company, you’ll see hand-woven rawhide lariats and traditional boots worn by original Spanish-trained “paniolo” cowboys—an important part of our Upcountry Maui heritage.
