Art Affair, Maui Open Studios and More!

February 15, 2012February Hui Highlights include the nationally-recognized and always amazing encaustic painter/ visiting artist, Jeff Juhlin, here to offer a free artist chat and 2-day intensive encaustic workshop; a visit from Big Island's Hawai'i Preparatory Academy to create artwork inspired by Patrick Dougherty's "On the Wild Side" sculpture; and Seabury Hall's experiential "Winterim" program (read more here!) This coming weekend, we'll be partnering once again with Maui Open Studios- acting as a home base for 18 exemplary Maui artists as visitors are invited into their work spaces, provided by our own Open Studio program, and purchase art by local talent. Next weekend presents Maui's premiere auction and social event, Art Affair, themed “Pompeii: An Evening of Muses & Myth.” A valued tradition of 21 years, Art Affair is the Hui’s signature fundraising event celebrating the importance of visual arts education in our Maui community. Held at our historic Kaluanui Estate, the evening features live music, dancing, a gourmet seated dinner, a live and silent auction, and an opportunity to meet a wonderful community of art supporters. So many opportunities to celebrate art & community this month- hope to see you at the Hui!
