Job Summary

At Hui No‘eau, our teaching artists are practicing professionals who bring their passion, creativity, and expertise directly into the classroom. Each artist has a strong background in the visual arts, ranging from painting, printmaking, and sculpture to mixed media and contemporary practices, and many hold degrees or advanced training in fine arts or education.

Beyond their own artistic work, Hui teaching artists are experienced educators who love working with keiki of all ages. They know how to design high level hands-on projects that spark curiosity, build skills, and encourage creative expression, whether with preschoolers discovering paint for the first time or teens exploring advanced techniques.

Our teachers also share a commitment to the community. They weave in themes of Hawaiian culture, local ecology, and mālama ʻāina (care for the land) so that every project feels rooted in place. Parents can feel confident knowing their children are learning in an environment that is safe, inclusive, and inspiring. Together, Hui teaching artists create opportunities for young people to experience the joy of art while building resilience, imagination, and lifelong connections to creativity.
